Vereniging kunstrestauratie Art Restorers Association vzw werd in 1988 opgericht als nationale beroepsvereniging voor restauratoren van kunstvoorwerpen, kunsthistorische objecten en monumenten.
Zij behartigt de belangen van restauratoren, de kunstvoorwerpen die zij behandelen en de kunstbezitters van deze werken, om zo een bijdrage te leveren aan het behoud van het cultureel erfgoed.
ARA wil zowel haar leden als alle overtuigen van het belang van de zorg voor dit erfgoed, zodat ons verleden blijvend de aandacht en waardering krijgt die het verdient.
ARA wil dan ook de schakel zijn tussen restaurator, kunstbezitter,ambachtsman, kunsthistoricus, wetenschapper. Daarom groepeert ARA specialisten op vele gebieden en geeft het iedereen de mogelijkheid om meer kennis te vergaren, contacten te leggen, professionele uit te
wisselen.

Johan Nieuwborg To use recycled materials, shells, stones, glass, buttons, wire, copper, and much more, to create toys is what this Belgian artist succeeds in doing. The most disparate materials recycled, observing the diverse facets and thinking about an object of compound forms, Johan succeeds in creating sculptures, not too small, that because of their assembly give back forms of grotesque insects, halfway that is between the fearsome and the comic. It is in the awe of discovering all the materials used that the wonderful breaks out. Looking at these strange invertebrates we begin to think that the artist is some magic flute player that has attracted them to himself. And there we have the ludic universe from which this artist feeds unveil itself little by little. Funny or frightening images, tender or terrible beings that populate his fantasy and that materially created can finally live in his playrooms. The rooms of memory and dreams, but mostly of hope where anything, even the most unlikely, can exist, discuss, send messages. '??The marvelous can flow also from the encounter of an umbrella and a sewing machine on an anatomic table'?? recited Isidore Ducasse, count of in the Cants de maldoror, a century and a half ago. That means that the beautiful in an esthetic sense can be born also from the paradox and from the absurd as long as it justifies itself in a sublime sense and makes itself a witness of a conceptual operation.

Mummies, corpses and their siblings are
my muses.
The subject: decay and ultimately death.
When do you see
when a person is no longer alive,
how does the skin look, the eyes, the body?
Why do we feel empathy for a mummy,
and not for a skeleton?
I\'m getting older, my own body changes ...
How does a human being cope with these irreversible changes?
I sculpt them! All of these thoughts
keep me going and are my inspiration
for my figurative sculptures ,
mostly in stone (marble, alabaster, grey and wax.

Schilders uit Kinshasa Populaire schilders uit Kinshasa.
De schilders uit Kinshasa staan en leven volop in de maatschappij met wie ze wel en wee delen. Hun stijl kan tot die van de schilderkunst gerekend worden.
De schilder schuwt geen enkel maatschappelijk thema. Het gaat om het leven van de gewone man en vrouw in Congo, dat zeer realistisch uitgebeeld wordt. Omwille van de humor en het feit dat de schilder zijn boodschap duidelijk wil stellen, worden de situaties vaak uitvergroot. Zo schilderen ze de problemen van het gezin, het huwelijk, het seksuele leven, sociale gebreken van de stad, de pesterijen van de politie, straatkinderen, de corruptie.
De Congolese artiesten zijn: Kumbi, Alfi-Alfa, Shula, cherin en Lusavuvu
